Getting started

What does the Foundations Trial include?

The current Foundations Trial is AU$30 for one week of access to eligible classes. Book your starting class once; you do not need to purchase another trial for every session. The team can help you choose suitable classes during your trial.

Do I need experience or a certain fitness level?

Beginners are welcome. Let the coach know you are new, or returning after a break, so they can guide your starting point. You do not need to understand every technique before your first class.

How do I book my first class?

Choose the adult or kids trial page, select the appropriate programme and an available date and time, then complete your details, consent and AU$30 payment. Your booking is confirmed when the booking system confirms the reservation.

When does my trial finish?

Your trial gives you one week of eligible training. If you are unsure of your start or finish date, contact us and we will check your individual trial record. If the team has agreed different dates with you, please mention that when you ask.

What if I cannot make my booked class?

Reply to your booking message or contact the team with the day you would prefer. We will help you check an alternative. Please wait for confirmation of the new booking before attending at a different time.

Your first visit

What should I bring?

Bring a water bottle and comfortable training clothes, and arrive 15 minutes early. For striking or MMA classes, bring boxing gloves and a mouthguard. If you do not have these, contact us before class so the team can advise you.

Where is Nexus?

We are at 293–295 Sydney Road, Coburg VIC 3058. Please allow time to park and arrive 15 minutes before your class.

Where can I park?

Sydney Road has a weekday 4–6 pm clearway on the academy side. Check nearby side streets such as Munro, Harding and Reynard Streets, or the nearby Woolworths/Council and Leisure Centre car parks. Always check the signs and time limits before leaving your vehicle.

Where can I see the timetable?

Use the Nexus timetable for current classes. The team can help you choose sessions that suit your programme, experience and, for children, age group.

How does Jiu-Jitsu training work at Nexus?

Training is built around clear positions, techniques and coached practice. You will work on understanding the situation, practising a useful response and applying it with a partner under the coach's guidance. Ask questions as you go; you do not need to remember everything after one class.

For parents

Which class should I choose for my child?

The current trial booking pages list Kids Jiu-Jitsu for ages 4–7, Teens Jiu-Jitsu for ages 9–14 and Youth MMA for ages 9–14. If your child is eight, or you are unsure which group suits them, contact the team before booking so we can confirm the appropriate class.

My child is nervous. What should I do?

Let us know before the class and arrive early so your child has time to meet the coach and get familiar with the space. Tell us what they are unsure about. Getting comfortable with the coach, group and routine is a useful part of the first week.

What comes after my child's trial?

Kids Core is our kids membership. It is AU$100 per fortnight, equivalent to AU$50 per week, paid fortnightly in advance. It includes eligible kids classes for their age group. Review the membership details and terms before enrolling, and ask the team if you need help choosing classes.

During your trial & your next step

How do I choose my next class?

Start with the timetable and tell the team which days work for you. We can help you choose an eligible session that fits your experience and programme. Bring one question from your last class for the coach to help with.

Adult Core is AU$100 per fortnight, equivalent to AU$50 per week, for regular timetable access including Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, Kickboxing and Wrestling. Adult Performance is AU$130 per fortnight, equivalent to AU$65 per week, and adds the weekly Study Lab for deeper technical study, questions and additional feedback. Both are billed fortnightly in advance. Class suitability and the current timetable apply.

How do I enrol after my trial?

For children, open the Kids Core membership page. Adults can compare Core and Performance on the adult membership page. Review the membership details and terms, then complete the appropriate checkout. If you have already paid but have not received confirmation, contact us before making another payment.

Where can I check commitment, pause and cancellation conditions?
